I’m glad that when #SteveJobs retired he heard his tributes then. It’s rare that people hear those things. We tend to give tribute when it’s all too late.
To the Class of ‘99
Twelve years after high school, I’ve come to realize that I’m still feeling a little bit “lost”. For the record I love where I am in life. At the wise age of 30, I’m happily married, have a great job with a future, and living footsteps from the beach in sunny Southern California. We’ll probably never own a place in Encinitas but, who cares, we’re happy. A long time ago I decided that, rather than pursuing my artistic dreams, I would get a business degree. That way I could earn a living to support my “hobbies”. Being a starving artist, while noble, was never a goal for me. Besides, if I understood business and how to represent myself, I could achieve greatness. Or, so I thought. As college graduation approached in May of 2007, it became apparent that there was no fast-track in life.
Class of 1999, this is for you. I was not valedictorian, nor did I earn a respectable GPA but I feel like we have a lot in common. We were promised the world only to find that it was an ever-changing landscape that demanded more than we were prepared for. School didn’t really prepare us for “this”.
It’s not that I hate Texas. It’s that Texas hates me.
Allergies, mosquito bites, food reactions and giant wasp stings.
Texas sometimes feels like it’s going through the modern day Plagues of Egypt. Or maybe its just that I am.
Next up: locusts and floods.

After living here for 5+ years. I still have to repeat myself daily. My top 2 repeat offenders:
‘Butter’. Which i repeat a few times before giving in and just going with ‘Buddah’
Same thing For ‘Water’. Americans out to ‘Waddah’
God help me when I have to use the automated phone lines that use voice recognition technology. I used to try it with my accent. But now I just go full steam ahead with my valley girl accent and get through instantly.
Gone are the days of “my you have such a lovely accent” now it’s “like todally like whatevs.”
Rule Britannia. Or not.
